Busan Metropolitan City to Host Special Lecture on AI Experts in Healthcare and Education for the Public Future

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that today (26th) at 3:00 p.m., a special lecture entitled “The Public Future: AI Experts in Healthcare and Education Domains” will be held at the City Hall Auditorium.

This lecture is part of the city’s ongoing initiative to expand the “Busan-style AI services” and enhance citizen understanding. It aims to share the latest achievements in AI technologies specialized in healthcare and education and to explore directions for innovation in future public services.

The lecture will be delivered by Hanju Yoo, Head of the Digital Healthcare Lab at NAVER Cloud. Dr. Yoo holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Seoul National University. He has previously worked as a software engineer at Samsung Electronics and as a research assistant professor at Dankook University, and currently oversees large-scale AI research in the medical field at NAVER Cloud.

Recently, Dr. Yoo presented on “Sovereign AI and NAVER Cloud’s Vision for Healthcare” at the “2025 Future Healthcare Trend Conference” held at COEX, Seoul. In this Busan lecture, he will also share specific applications of AI in the healthcare and education sectors with the public.

In the healthcare domain, the lecture will cover: ▲ Medical record automation system “CLOVA Charty” ▲ AI health consultation and chronic disease management coaches ▲ Nursing Agents ▲ AHA Inpatient Assistant service supporting patient–medical staff communication. These examples illustrate real-world applications that reduce administrative burdens in medical settings and support patient-tailored counseling and management systems.

In the education domain, the lecture will introduce a new AI tutor model that surpasses the limitations of conventional AI tutors that only provided fixed answers. This model allows learners to ask open questions and study independently. For teachers, it provides a dashboard view of students’ progress, offers multiple approaches to problem understanding, and guides learners step-by-step through solutions—practical applications directly usable in classrooms and learning environments.

Through this lecture, the city seeks to engage citizens in discussions about the necessity of innovation in public services and the potential of the AI industry, while laying the groundwork for establishing Busan as a convergent AI city.

Dr. Yoo emphasized, “AI will bring the greatest innovations in areas directly connected to citizens’ lives, such as healthcare and education. I hope to contribute to Busan’s growth as a city leading AI convergence in the public sector.”

Cho Young-tae, Director General of the Administrative Management Bureau, stated, “AI is the key driver that will open a new public future in fields closely tied to citizens’ lives, such as healthcare and education. We hope this lecture will be a valuable opportunity for citizens to better understand AI technologies and envision the future together.”
