The Busan Audit Commission (Chairperson Yoon Hee-yeon) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation on April 8 at 11:00 AM at the Corporation’s headquarters.

Chairperson Yoon Hee-yeon and Shin Young-il, Standing Auditor of the Corporation, attended the signing ceremony and signed the MOU together.

The Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation was newly established on April 25, 2024, following the enforcement of the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation Act enacted on October 24, 2023. The Corporation serves as the core agency overseeing the construction and future operation of the new gateway airport in Korea’s southern region.

Not only will it lead infrastructure development for the airport, but it is also expected to serve as a strategic hub, maximizing ripple effects in air logistics, tourism, and industry, playing a key role in elevating Busan to a global hub city.

Last year, Busan City received a Grade 2 rating in the National Integrity Assessment conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, making it the only metropolitan government to achieve Grade 2 for three consecutive years in both perceived integrity and integrity efforts, proving its excellence in auditing and promoting a culture of transparency.

Under this MOU, the two institutions will strengthen mutual audit capabilities, provide expert personnel and consulting support, share best policies and audit information, and promote a culture of integrity and anti-corruption through continued collaboration and information exchange.

The Busan Audit Commission plans to leverage its accumulated experience and expertise to support the Corporation in establishing a stable and efficient audit system early in its organizational development, laying the foundation for a strong cooperative audit framework.

Chairperson Yoon Hee-yeon stated,
