Busan City Offers Job Opportunities to 300 People Through the “Mid-to-Late Career Internship Program”

To expand employment opportunities for the mid-to-late career generation, Busan Metropolitan City led by Mayor Park Heong-joon, announced that it will actively promote the “Mid-to-Late Career Internship Program”, with a goal of supporting the hiring of 300 individuals in 2025.

The program provides wage subsidies to companies that hire job seekers aged 50 or older, helping them re-enter the workforce.

Operated by the Busan Senior Job Support Center, the program connects qualified mid-to-late career professionals with meaningful job opportunities and supports businesses in securing experienced talent, in response to Korea’s rapidly aging society.

This year’s program is backed by a KRW 700 million budget, with KRW 600 million from the central government and KRW 100 million in support from BNK Busan Bank.
The program is implemented in two parts:

Program 1: Busan 50+ Internship

• ●Target Group: Job seekers aged 50–64

• ●Support for Companies:

• ○Up to KRW 1.8 million per employee

• ■After 3 months: KRW 1.5 million

• ■After 6 months: Additional KRW 300,000

Program 2: Senior Internship

• ●Target Group: Job seekers aged 60 and above

• ●Support for Companies:

• ○Up to KRW 5.5 million per employee

• ■3-month internship: KRW 400,000/month

• ■3-month employment extension: KRW 500,000/month

• ■Continued employment after internship:

• ●After 18 or 24 months: KRW 800,000

• ●After 30 or 36 months: KRW 600,000

As of early 2025, Busan City has selected 50 companies to participate in the Busan 50+ Internship, connecting 50 interns to various industries including shipbuilding, marine equipment manufacturing, logistics, food services, medical and welfare sectors.

For the Senior Internship, as of March, 100 individuals are participating across 33 companies, with plans to recruit 150 more by the end of the year. Participating industries include construction, education services, and business support services.

Companies planning to convert interns to regular employees will be given priority in selection for this program.
