Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Improvement of Culture Regarding the Use of Narcotic-Related Names and Trademarks

Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance No. 7047, 11. October, 2023., Enacted
- Article 1 (Purpose)
- The purpose of this Ordinance is to stipulate the necessary provisions for improving the culture of misusing or abusing narcotic-related names and trademarks, thereby raising public awareness about narcotics and contributing to the prevention of the misuse or abuse of narcotic-related terms.
- Article 2 (Definitions)
- The term “narcotics” in this Ordinance refers to narcotics, psychotropic substances, and cannabis as defined in Article 2 of the Narcotics Control Act.
- Article 3 (Responsibilities)
- The Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City (hereinafter referred to as “Mayor”) shall endeavor to improve the culture of misusing or abusing narcotic-related names and trademarks.
- Article 4 (Relationship with Other Ordinances)
- Unless otherwise specifically provided in other ordinances, the provisions of this Ordinance shall apply to matters concerning the improvement of the culture regarding the use of narcotic-related names and trademarks.
- Article 5 (Establishment and Implementation of Plans)
- (1) The Mayor may establish and implement a plan to systematically improve the culture of using narcotic-related names and trademarks (hereinafter referred to as “Improvement Plan”).
- (2) The Improvement Plan shall include the following matters:
- 1. Basic direction of policies for improving the culture of using narcotic-related terms.
- 2. Major initiatives to improve the culture of using narcotic-related terms.
- 3. Budget and support necessary for the implementation of the Improvement Plan.
- 4. Other matters deemed necessary by the Mayor.
- Article 6 (Projects)
- (1) The Mayor may carry out the following projects to improve the culture of using narcotic-related names and trademarks:
- 1. Education and development/dissemination of educational materials for raising awareness of the use of narcotic-related terms.
- 2. Campaigns to improve the culture of using narcotic-related terms.
- 3. Provision of information for improving the culture of using narcotic-related terms..
- 4. Other projects deemed necessary by the Mayor for improving the culture of using narcotic-related terms.
- (2) The Mayor may entrust all or part of these projects to corporations or organizations with the necessary expertise to ensure their effective implementation.
- Article 7 (Financial Support)
- The Mayor may provide partial financial support, within the limits of the budget, for replacing containers, packaging, promotional materials, or signs for products that use narcotic-related terms.
- Article 8 (Cooperation System)
- The Mayor may establish a cooperation system with central administrative agencies, other local governments, and relevant institutions or organizations to effectively promote the improvement of the culture regarding the use of narcotic-related names and trademarks.

- This ordinance shall enter into force on the date of its promulgation.
