“Grand Talk” – Grandparent-Grandchild English Program Now Open for Enrollment

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that, starting today (June 17) until June 30, it will be recruiting participants for the first session of the “Grand Talk” English program — a grandparent-grandchild course offered at Haha Centers, key facilities under the 15-Minute City Busan initiative.

○ “Grand Talk” is designed to bridge emotional gaps between generations through English-based activities while offering new shared experiences for families.

In this first session, native English-speaking instructors will lead various hands-on activities such as crafts, cooking, and rhythmic movements. Children aged 6–7 and their grandparents will enjoy a natural and joyful learning environment together.

Classes will be held weekly during July at two Haha Centers — in Jae-song (Haeundae-gu) and Sinpyeong (Saha-gu).

○ Each center will offer four sessions:

• ●Jae-song Center: Every Monday from July 7 to 28

• ●Sinpyeong Center: Every Thursday from July 10 to 31

The program is free of charge and targets 6–7-year-old children and their grandparents.

Applications are open from 10:00 AM on June 17 to 5:00 PM on June 30 via the City’s Integrated Reservation System (reserve.busan.go.kr > Lectures/Education), and registration will close once spots are filled.

The “Grand Talk” program will be offered in four sessions through October:

• ●Sessions 1 and 3 for ages 6–7

• ●Sessions 2 and 4 for ages 8–9

○ Enrollment for the 2nd–4th sessions will begin sequentially in July, August, and September.

○ Detailed schedules will be available in the notices section of the 15-Minute City Busan website (www.busan.go.kr/15minute/board01).

Meanwhile, the Haha Centers are core facilities under the 15-Minute City Busan policy, supporting active aging and social participation for the “New Senior” generation.

○ Their functions include operating the “Haha Center Talent Sharing Group,” offering rental space for senior clubs, and serving as a communication space for all generations with rest areas, book cafés, and exhibitions.
