Busan City Recruiting 10 Members for the “Occupational Safety and Health Guardians” Team

Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that Busan Metropolitan City will recruit 10 members for its “Occupational Safety and Health Guardians” team by April 21, to support industrial accident prevention at local workplaces.

Since its launch in 2021, the Guardians team has been actively visiting workplaces, monitoring working conditions, identifying risk factors for industrial accidents, providing guidance for improvement, and encouraging autonomous safety and health practices.

The team mainly inspects construction sites initiated by Busan City or district offices, with project costs between KRW 100 million and KRW 1.2 billion, as well as private worksites recommended by the KOSHA (Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency).

The inspections focus on:

• ●Three core safety measures: fall prevention, entrapment prevention, and PPE compliance

• ●Adherence to safety protocols and engagement of professional safety organizations

• ●Site supervision and identification of hazardous risk factors

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

• ●Be at least 18 years old and registered as a Busan resident as of the announcement date

• ●Fall under at least one of the following categories:

• 1.Worked for 3+ years in occupational safety and health at a company or related organization

• 2.Participated in 3+ years of safety-related activities at a labor advocacy group

• 3.Hold a recognized occupational safety and health certificate (e.g., Industrial Safety Engineer)

• 4.Be appointed as an Honorary Safety Inspector by the Ministry of Employment and Labor
