The city of Busan announced on the 2nd of January, 2006 that Nurimaru, the 2005 APEC House, and the Gwangan Grand Bridge are the grand prize winners for the first Korean Architecture Contest.

The contest is a new competition sponsored by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers and the Architectural Institute of Korea to discover firms and individuals with brilliant ideas and technology that may contribute to the development of the construction industry.

Nurimaru was judged highly on the harmonious presentation of the architectural structure of the traditional Korean Jungja image, along with the representation of the city of Busan.

Many architects showed interest in August 1994 for the construction of the Gwangan Grand Bridge since it is the longest bridge on the sea and the first two-level bridge in Korea. Moreover, it is loved for its more than 100,000 colors of scenic lighting at different seasons, days and hours.

In addition to those two structures, the Gupo Station with its presentation of wind and waves, and the third line of the Busan subway in the #311 area were selected as second runners-up.
