‘Maritime Capital Busan’ brings hometown news to Koreans in U.S.

A Korean cable TV channel in Los Angeles has started airing the Busan Internet News show twice weekly.

Aiming to deliver the news from major cities across Korea to Koreans living in the United States, the cable channel is airing the Internet news of Busan, Seoul and Gyeonggi province.

City officials believe that the benefits to Busan of this broadcasting across Los Angeles are significant, since news about the hometown is being delivered continuously to over 700,000 Koreans living in southern California.

Each week, the city produces a 17-minute film segment based on news gathered from across the Busan region dealing with a variety of issues relevant to Busan.

The show is aired through cable stations of the Busan region, the city’s online broadcasting station, the tourist information center at Gimhae International Airport, and at various civil service and consultation centers.
