The government is investing 9.2 trillion won in the new port to turn the city into a major logistics hub in the Northeast Asia region. When construction is completed in 2011, the new harbor will have 30 berths capable of handling 8 million standard-size containers per year, which is roughly twice the capacity of the current Busan container terminal and 30 percent more than that of Hong Kong harbor.
