APEC CEO summit to attract 700 execs

About 700 world-leading business executives will gather in Busan Nov. 17-19 to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit 2005 the event organizer said yesterday.

 

Featured speakers at the business summit, to be held on the margins of the main APEC leaders' meeting, will include Citigroup Inc. Vice Chairman William R. Rhodes, Senior Vice President of Microsoft Craig Mundie, Li & Fung Group of Companies Chairman Victor Fung, and Asia Inc. Chairman Timothy Ong, among others.

 

Also likely to attend the event are Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs and Alibaba Chairman and CEO Jack Ma, the Federation of Korean Industries said.

 

The FKI said 12 leaders from APEC economies will deliver speeches during the summit, marking the biggest participation of country heads in the event's 10 year history.

 

This year, participants in the summit will hold discussions around the main theme of "Entrepreneurship and Prosperity: Building a Successful Partnership in the Asia-Pacific Region."

Begun in 1996, the CEO summit has served as a major forum to promote economic prosperity and development of the Asia-Pacific region as well as providing chances for networking among the region's leading entrepreneurs.

 

Hyun Jae-hyun, chairman of Tong Yang Group, serves as the chairman of this year's CEO summit.
