Dubbed
Asia’s answer to Cannes’ ad festival Cannes Lions, Busan’s Ad Stars will run
for three days from Aug. 20 to 22 at BEXCO, Haeundae, and its vicinity.
Ad
Stars is famed not only as Asia’s biggest advertising festival but also as a
convergence event for creative communication, combining online and offline ads
for the first time in the world.
Online
submissions are open to anyone and can include personalized ad projects and
on-site, interactive programs and displays.
In
its eighth year this year, Ad Stars has so far attracted 17,698 submissions
from 67 nations across the globe, a record-high. According to an analysis, this
is due, in part, to participation by the global ad industry’s most influential
judges.
Its
international presence has also increased, thanks to the fact that the
award-winning Ad Stars has been factored in The Campaign Brief Asia Creative
Rankings.
Highly
acclaimed works that received awards at the Cannes Lions International
Advertising Festival have also made it to the final round.
The
finalists will go through two evaluations before the grand-prix winner is
chosen by Aug. 18.
Some
1,700 final submissions, both professional and amateur, will be exhibited at
BEXCO during the event.
“Year after year, Ad Stars is seeing a
phenomenal growth in terms of both quality and quantity, hence becoming a
first-class global festival,” said an associate in the ad industry. “The ad gala
provides a golden opportunity to showcase top-tier works from Korea and
overseas as well as works that have been recognized at other worldwide ad
festivals.”
It
should also be noted that the exhibition and seminar “China Special” will
showcase the mainland’s fast-growing ad industry.
The
event also includes a number of side programs, including seminars, Creative
School, a job fair and networking parties for industry personnel.
