Synergic effect expected by adding tourism function
Busan Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is aimed to produce a synergistic effect by combining Busan's two strategic industries of tourism and conventions, has started operations.
The city launched the new bureau by expanding the function and organization of the Convention Bureau, originally opened in 2005, and appointed Ahn Joon-tae, vice mayor for administration, as chairman of its board of directors.
The new, expanded bureau has enhanced its function by adding tourism marketing business to the existing function of attracting international conferences and convention-marketing business.
It consists of three teams - convention marketing team, tourisms marketing team and management support team - under the secretariat office, and also increased its staff by three to total 11.
The bureau plans to start with setting up a cooperation system with institutions and businesses related with tourism, including the Busan Tourism Association.
It will develop and provide tour programs specially tailored for the participants in various international and domestic corporate conferences, and focus on maximizing economic effects of hosting international gatherings by developing and offering tour products that suit the characteristics of each conference when they plan to attract such meetings.
