Social Distancing Restrictions to be Lifted Starting Monday, April 18, 2022

(Effective Monday, April 18 until further notice)


The national government has announced the removal of most of the social distancing regulations, including restrictions on the number of people at private gatherings and operating hours at multiuse facilities. However, indoor and outdoor mask wearing regulations remain in place.


Prohibition on food consumption at some multi-use facilities will be lifted on April 25, 2022.

Prevention and control measures, except face masks, on public transportation will be lifted on April 25, 2022.


Multi-use facilities (18 types): Prohibition on Food Consumption (The restriction will be lifted on April 25, 2022)

▶ singing rooms (including coin singing rooms) ▶ bathhouses/saunas ▶ indoor sports facilities ▶ velodromes, regattas and race courses (national and public facilities)/ casinos (except casinos designated for foreigners) ▶ multi-rooms/DVD rooms ▶ sports stadiums(indoor) ▶ massage salons ▶ game arcades ▶ exhibits and expos ▶ barbershops/hair salons ▶ direct sales (e.g., door-to-door sales) promotion centers ▶ Private academies ▶ study rooms and cafes ▶library ▶ movie theaters ▶ museums and art galleries ▶ retail stores, mart, department stores ▶ religious facilities *Entertainment facilities: ’Colatecs’ (Korean-style cabaret) and dance halls

Multi-use facilities (13 types): Food Consumption Allowed

▶ Entertainment facilities (bars, including night clubs and room salons, karaoke bars, pubs, hunting pochas) ▶ restaurants/cafes/bakeries (including unmanned cafes, convenience stores and street vendors) ▶ internet cafes (PC bangs) ▶ party rooms ▶ wedding halls ▶ funeral homes ▶ ’doljanchi’ specialized venues ▶ amusement parks/water parks ▶ sports stadiums (outdoor) ▶ outdoor sports facilities ▶ accommodation ▶kids café ▶international conferences and workshops

Recommended Quarantine Rules for Prevention and Control (Common):

① Complete COVID-19 vaccinations

② Wear a mask correctly indoors and outdoors

③ Wash your hands often with soap and running water, for at least 30 seconds

④ Ventilate regularly (more than 3 times per day), disinfect regularly (more than once per day)

⑤ Minimize the number of private gatherings and time spent with others

⑥ Get tested and stay at home if you are sick, and minimize contact with high-risk individuals.
