World Triathlon Cup in Haeundae!
The `2021 World Triathlon Cup Haeundae', approved by the World Triathlon governing body, will be held on the 23rd of October.
A total of 65 male and 65 female elite athletes from all over the world are set to tackle the sprint distance circuit in Haeundae. This international event will be live-streamed in 140 countries. The sprint distance consists of a 750m swim, a 20km bike, and a 5km run around Haeundae beach, Haeundae haebyeon-ro, and Haeundae beach road.
Foreign athletes will need a negative PCR test upon arrival to Incheon International Airport and take a designated bus to Haeundae. During the event period, they will only be allowed to stay in their accommodation and the training center.
Haeundae-gu was set to host the Triathlon Asian Cup last year, but the event was cancelled due to COVID-19.In general, the Triathlon World Cup takes place over two days; one day for elite athletes and the other for amateur athletes. This event, however, will only allow elite athletes to compete because Busan is under social distancing level 3 due to COVID-19.
