27th World Championships of Magic

The 2018 FISM World Championships of Magic, which has been established as the gateway for 1 among over 100 hopeful international magicians to become the world's top magician. The event takes place at BEXCO Convention Hall and Auditorium for seven days from Monday, July 9 to Sunday, July 15, 2018. World-class magicians have been strictly selected through the preliminary rounds held at each of their respective countries and have competed in the main match held by continent. The championship contestants have now reached the finals to determine who the best magician is, drawing worldwide attention.
The contests are largely divided into two magic categories, 'Stage' and 'Close-up.' A total of about 120 magicians from 21 countries will compete for the championship title with creative and remarkable magic tricks. Performances will include tricks from 80 magicians for the stage category, which consists of 5 genres: Manipulation (sleight of hand), General (storytelling), Illusion (large-scale), Mental (psychology), and Comedy (comic magic). And 40 magicians will perform tricks representing the close-up category, which consists of three genres: Card (card trick), Micro (close-up trick), and Parlour (parlour tricks).
In the opening ceremony, Lee Eun-gyeol, the magician who represents Korea, is scheduled to perform his fantastic magic show 'The Illusion.' In addition, 6 'Public Gala Shows,' which are performed together by great magicians representing their countries, will be held by continent. Other attractions include 5 one-man shows performed by different world-famous magicians, who have already been successfully recognized around the world. If the participation of a North Korean magician, a point of debate in this championship, is decided, it is expected that 'ONE KOREA NIGHT' will be declared jointly with North and South Korea and a South-North joint performance 'Special Magic Gala Show' will be performed to convey a message of peace that would impress not only contestants from Eastern and Western countries but the domestic and overseas audience.
Furthermore, a variety of interesting events will be held during the championships, including 16 lecture programs in which attendees can learn special techniques, ideas, tricks, philosophy, etc. directly from world-class magicians. In addition, 4 workshops will be offered with the aim to seek for a new direction of the magic industry by sharing new information, techniques, etc. associated with relevant subjects between experts related to magic performances and the stage. There will also be 'Magic Fair,' where magic-related companies from around the world display and sell various magic products, 'Magic Salon,' which provides a platform for free intercommunication, and 'Odd Competition,' an odd, comic version of a magic contest that was previously not attempted though many people find it very funny.
