Canadian Short Films Selected for Guest Country Program at Busan International Short Film Festival 2017

Launched in 1980, the Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) is Korea’s first and largest short film festival, bringing together more than 250 international and domestic filmmakers, actors, industry specialists, and 7,000 spectators every year. This year, BISFF will take place over six days from April 25 to 30 at the Busan Cinema Centre.
Canada has been designated as the ‘Guest Country’ of the festival for the 2017 edition. The ‘Guest Country’ program is one of the main programs of the festival.
The program takes a look at diverse films from the country to provide an opportunity to understand the culture and the society beyond, through the artistic field of short film cinema. A total of 26 remarkable Canadian short works will be presented in four different sections titled: ‘Canadian Panorama’, ‘Canada First Nations’, ‘NFB Special’, and ‘BISFF Talk’.
In addition to the screenings of short films, there will be a special VR booth, by Ana Serrano from the Canadian Film Centre that will run throughout the festival. At the opening ceremony on April 25th, followed by the ‘Canadian Spotlight’ event – taking place on the 26th, audiences will have a chance to enjoy unique Canadian aboriginal music, as well as modern musical performances by the hip-hop artist Samian and his band.
