Busan became the first municipality in Korea to expand free public transportation service to ages 6–12, up from the previous 0–5 age group.
Every child, regardless of nationality, may travel around Busan at no cost.
Overview
  • (Start Date) Friday, October 6, 2023
  • (Eligibility) Children ages 6–12 (including foreign nationals)
  • (Benefit) Free transportation for target children
  • (How it Works) The fare is automatically set to ₩0 upon use of a children’s transit card. *Standard fares apply when paying in cash.
  • (Instructions) Purchase a children’s transit card and register the child’s date of birth. ▻ At a convenience store or through the eZL app
  • (Coverage Area) City and village buses, subway lines (except for Route 2000 and Donghae Line)

How to Enroll in the Free Fare Program

Complete registration in advance to activate the free transportation benefit.
1. At a Convenience Store
Bring a children’s transit card or purchase one, then stop by a nearby convenience store for registration (7-Eleven, GS25, CU, emart24). 
Visit a convenience store → Provide your child’s date of birth → Use the transit card 
2. Through the App
Register a children’s transit card directly via smartphone. 
(The app allows viewing usage history and remaining balance.)
Scan the QR code → Verify your identity on your phone → Tap the transit card on the back of your phone → Select the child/youth discount menu → Choose ‘Apply’ → Select the discount type → Enter your child’s date of birth → Tap the transit card on the back of your phone again → Finish registration 
Please keep the transit card in contact with the phone until the process is finalized.
