Money-saving journey starts Sept. 1 when 2013 Busan Grand Sale begins
This fall, waves of shoppers and tourists will flood Busan.
Busan’s flagship festival, 2013 Busan Grand Sale, will be held from Sept. 1 to Oct. 10 at major venues including hotels, department stores, duty-free stores and restaurants in areas like Haeundae, Nampo-dong, Gwangalli and Seomyeon. One of the biggest draws will be discounts of as much as 70 percent, making the 40 days of the Grand Sale one of the prime times of the year to tour Busan.
Visitors can receive discount coupons at Gimhae International Airport, the International Passenger Ferry Terminal, Busan Station, Tourist Information Centers and major hotels. Coupons can be clipped from leaflets or printed out from the Busan Tourism Organization Web site

In this year’s Busan Grand Sale, about 75 businesses will participate, including 15 related to shopping like department stores and supermarkets, and 18 hotels including Busan Lotte Hotel and Paradise Hotel, 15 food and beverage businesses, and 10 banks and convenience stores.
At Bujeon Ginseng Market, one can buy Cheong Kwan Jang (Korean red ginseng) and enjoy a healthy 5 to 20 percent discount.
Hungry visitors can gobble up discounted dishes at traditional restaurants and establishments serving family fare.
Busan’s luxury and tourist hotels will also offer special rates of as much as 70 percent off during the Grand Sale season. Five major guest houses of Busan, which boast the same level of qualit y and services as hotels, will also cut prices for the festival.
In addition to shopping and accommodations, visitors will find Grand Sale bargains on cultural performances and related events. Busan National Gugak Center will give 20 percent off on tickets to all performances. There will also be discounts for casinos, cruises, city tours, and other tourist and leisure services and facilities.
During the Grand Sale, there will be magic shows and other events at Gimhae International Airport, the International Cruise Terminal, Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch and elsewhere to welcome tourists to Busan.
Promotion guides dressed in traditional Korean hanbok at the domestic and international terminals of Gimhae International Airport will hand out coupons and leaflets to visitors.
