Deputy Finance and Economy Minister Kwon Tae-kyun, fourth from left, shakes hands with Commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) Authority Kim Moon-hee, fifth from left, during an event to celebrate the opening of the BJFEZ Seoul office at the Korea Development Bank Capital Corporation headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, Tuesday.
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) opened its Seoul office Tuesday in a bid to attract non-Korean investors and foreign-invested companies operating in the Seoul metropolitan area.
It said the office consists of the two teams ― one that seeks to draw multinational high-tech manufacturers and logistics firms, and another that performs various investor relations activities to attract foreign service-oriented companies, including schools, theme park operators and hospitals.
The commissioner of BJFEZ, Kim Moon-hee, said the Seoul office will help accelerate the zone's efforts to invite foreign investors and companies to the southeastern part of the country where they can take advantage of a wide range of incentives, advanced infrastructure and geographical proximity for their business.
The zone was set up in March 2004 and has attracted investments worth $4.5 billion in areas of logistics, high-tech manufacturing, and leisure.
