Busan City government implements energy-saving measures for summer season

Busan City announced energy-saving measures to avoid serious electricity shortages that could cause blackouts this summer due to nuclear power plant shutdowns.
The public sector leads in energy-saving measures, along with large buildings like department stores, hotels and multi-use facilities.
The government energy-saving measures taking effect in July and August include:
△ All public offices must maintain their indoor temperatures at 28℃ or above, and all commercial buildings are required to keep their temperatures at 26℃ or above
△ Crackdowns on any store doing business with their doors open while operating their air-conditioners during July and August. Violations can lead to a maximum fine of 3 million won.
△ Suspension of air-conditioner operations every 30 minutes between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in public sector and energy-glutton buildings.
△ Restriction on electricity usage in public sector (Reduction of monthly electricity usage by 15% and average electricity usage during peak times by 20% year-on-year)
You can save energy at home by following these guidelines:
▷Refrain from using electricity during peak hours (2:00 ~ 5:00 PM).
▷Refrain as much as possible from using air-conditioners.
▷Refrain from using air conditioners during peak hours.
▷Keep the indoor temperature at 26℃ or higher.
▷Do not use unnecessary lights (including signboards and outdoor lighting).
▷Use highly efficient lighting such as LEDs.
▷Unplug appliances when not in use.
▷Do not use the keep-warm function of rice cookers.
▷Fill up washing machines and dishwashers as completely as possible.
