‘Hope Busan 100 Year Time Capsule’ Buried at Busan Citizens’ Park.

The City of Busan has buried a time capsule containing items symbolizing the ‘Busan of today’ that is scheduled to be opened 100 years later at Busan Citizens’ Park.


On October 4, 2013, the burial ceremony of the Hope Busan 100 Year Time Capsule and commemorative sculpture unveiling ceremony were held as one of commemorative event for the 34th Annual Busan Citizens’ Day and to celebrate the 50th year since Busan's establishment as a Metropolitan City.

 


The seed-shaped time capsule is 1.15 meters in diameter and two meters high and stores the records of the past 50 years of the City’s development, and materials and items representing the current Busan citizens’ everyday life.  In total, 605 items including those representing Busan’s industry, economy, politics, administration, culture, art, natural environment and the life of its citizens as well as many more were buried to provide an accurate look at Busan’s cultural heritage to our descendants. After 100 years from October 4, 2013, the time capsule will be opened to connect Busan’s past to its future.
