2005 Korea World Travel Fair at BEXCO

The Korea World Travel Fair will be held at BEXCO from 21st to 24th. About 200 tourism offices and other related groups from 28 countries will offer tourism information regarding destinations, accommodations, transportation and other items of interest to travelers.

1. Organization
This year a total of 350 booths has been erected. The booths have been grouped into these themes: international, domestic local autonomous entities, tourism businesses, tourism experiences, customs, Internet information and others. The international booths have attracted the most attention. Books with a substantial number of coupons are available to the public at the fair as well as at various travel information desks. The 13 local autonomous entities will publicize tourist attractions in their regions and tourism business groups will provide information about travel agencies, hotels and airlines. Information about tourism related colleges is also available. Visitors will have opportunities to experience Korean arts and crafts by making pottery, practicing the metal arts and making Korean paper. The customs booths will have world folk arts on display.

2. Folk Performance
Twenty-two teams from six countries including Egypt, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan will perform their folk arts in their traditional costumes this year. The Egyptian Tourism Office has organized belly dancing and Tannura dancing. Tannura is Arabic for big skirt and the style is very unique. They wear big colorful skirts and dance turning round and round. The performance will be held only once at 2:40 p.m. on the 23rd. The Malaysian Tourism Office will offer a Batik themed fashion show, which is one of their traditional costumes. The Thai Tourism Office will have a Pataya Tiffany Show and a group from Osaka, Japan will perform Bunraku puppet show at 3:20 p.m. on the first day. The Chamorita Dance Company accompanied the Guam Visitors Bureau. The Chinese circus, a standard dance and the Argentine Tango will also be performed.

3. Other Events
Games and small souvenirs from each booth can be enjoyed and tourism information gathered. Photo services are available so that the public can pose with models in traditional costumes of other countries, which are enjoyed by children young and old.
The Indian Tourism Office will make Indian flute music, handicrafts and necklaces, a Chinese equipped dart game and souvenirs available. The Taiwanese will distribute traditional items through a lottery. If you are in luck, you may win a free gift! Grand prizes will be a car and round-trip tickets to Asia and Europe. Admission for adults is 2,000 won.
