SEEKING AND PONDERING - JANG YOUNG-SIL AND THE WORLD OF SCIENCE
The exhibition will feature the life of Jang Young-sil, a Korean scientist and astronomer during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), outlining his achievements and their historical significance, regarding their influence on the development of science and technology across future generations. The exhibition will recognize
The exhibition will display some 100 relics relating to the fields of astronomy, timekeeping, printing, pharmacy, architecture, meteorology and military during the Joseon Dynasty. In particular, it will provide a rare opportunity to see a portable sun clock called Hyeonju Ilgu and 3 listed national treasures, including the Bullyudugongbusi-gwon 13 (Treasure No. 1051, Gyeonggi Provincial Museum), the Angbuilgu (Hemispherical Sundial) (Treasure No. 845, Royal Museum) and Tongdosa Geumdongcheonmundo (Treasure No. 1373, Tongdosa Temple) which were all invented in the 15th century.
