A barrier-free walking trail will be built around
As part of the national strategic 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' project, and for a total investment of 2 billion won, a 2,000-meter long barrier-free trail will be built aimed at providing everyone, particularly the disabled, the weak and the elderly, as well as pregnant women and students with easy access to walking paths in the forest for relaxation and natural healing.
First, the city plans to build an environmentally friendly 800-meter long walking path equipped with a slope for entry and wooden bridges for convenient access for wheelchairs and strollers this year. Removing stairs and smoothing out steep slopes will make it easier for everyone. In addition, cultural spaces, including rest areas, exercise equipment, an education center and a mini botanical garden will be established along the route of the path.
To complete the barrier-free trail, a 1,200 meter themed rotary trail is planned to be built in 2011 along with an observatory, from which walkers will be able to enjoy lovely views of the
A city official of the Forest Policy Division said, “The barrier-free forest is a multi-purpose walking trail for everyone. The completed walking trail is expected to contribute to the promotion of forest welfare.”
