Is everybody ready for summer in the city?
Major beaches open on June 1 with street performances and festivals galore
Summer 2014 in Busan is guaranteed to be entertaining and memorable. The main beaches open this month and there will be plenty of thrilling and romantic opportunities for marine sports, cultural performances and diverse experience events.
The four major beaches of Busan - Haeundae, Gwangalli, Songjeong and Songdo - open June 1 and will welcome tourists from home and abroad through Sept. 10.
Haeundae Beach, Korea’s foremost vacation spot, has an abundance of festivals. This summer, visitors can admire the work of sand artists, dance the nights away to salsa music and Hawaiian hulas, and listen to live music performances while reveling in cool evening sea breezes. Moontan Road, a promenade on Dalmaji (greet the moon) Hill that overlooks Haeundae Beach, is an incomparable place for a romantic walk on a moonlit night.
Gwangalli Beach will create its own exotic atmosphere. Vacationers can enjoy ocean swimming while reveling in the view of the Diamond (Gwangan) Bridge and rest under reed parasols on the white sands. From July, the beachside road at Gwangalli will be closed to vehicle traffic on weekends and be transformed into a performance venue.
Songdo Beach in Seo-gu (district) will operate a children’s pool. Kayaks will be available for free.
Visitors to the beaches of Busan can enjoy yachting, boat rides, jet skiing, kayaking, canoes, scuba diving and other marine leisure sports. Three new marine facilities will open in Haeundae.
The Bay 101, on Dongbaek Island, opened May 13. It is two stories high with two levels underground, and offers yachting, boat rides and jet skis. For a break from the water, there are mooring facilities, an exhibition space, a seminar room, and food and drink area. (-Information: 051-726-8888)< /SPAN>
