Mt. Amisan Observatory, located in front of Molundae catholic church, Dadae-dong, Saha-gu, and overlooking the Nakdong River Estuary, opened on February 21, 2011.

The Mt. Amisan Observatory is an ideal spot for visitors to observe the wintering grounds of waterfowl and wading birds in the Nakdong River delta, which is designated as Natural Monument No. 179 in Korea, and to see the sunset. In addition, the Nakdong Estuary Eco Center, the Wild Animal shelter and the best hides from which to watch the migratory birds are all located nearby the observatory. All are open to the public for free.

The construction of the observatory was started in April 2010, and the new three-story, 1,309-square-meter building was completed in February 2011.

A city official said, “The city plans to complete environmentally friendly ecology parks in Eulsukdo Island and along the four riversides by early next year. It is aiming to establish a world-class ecological tourist attraction. We expect that the opening of the Mt. Amisan Observatory will help to attract many more tourists.”
