Emergency Support Center for Migrant Women has moved

The Opening Ceremony of the Emergency Support Center for Migrant Women was held at the Busan Medical Center (B1) located in Geoje-dong, Yeonje-gu on February 16, 2011.

 

The Emergency Support Center for Migrant Women started out as the center for the entire Gyeongsang Region covering Busan, Ulsan, Daegu, and the Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do areas, in January 14, 2009. Since July 2010, the center has been operating as the Busan center covering Busan, Ulsan and the Gyeongnam region, Based at Spo1 Park, it moved to the Busan Medical Center in January 2011.  

 

87.5 percent of the migrant women who have visited the center are Busan citizens living nearby various administrative agencies and with medical services available 24 hours a day. Therefore, to provide a better service to migrant women, the center was moved to the Busan Medical Center at the beginning of this year. 

 

The Emergency Support Center for Migrant Women has been opened to support women facing problems such as domestic violence, sexual assault, prostitution and similar hardships, which migrant women could face while living in Korea, and to provide them with medical and legal services as well.

 

Five native consultants from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia and Russia provide a consultation service through a 24-hour hotline (Tel.1577-1366) all year round.
