Learning how to play Korean traditional musical instruments with folk songs ; Janggu and Gayageum

The janggu (or janggo; also spelled changgo) is the most widely used percussion instrument in most kinds of Korean traditional music. It is made from a hollow, hourglass-shaped wooden body and two skin heads. The two heads produce sounds of different pitch and timbre, which then played together represent the harmony of man and woman.

A gayageum is a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument , with 12 strings, although more recently variants have been constructed with 21 or other numbers of strings. It draws its name from the ancient Korean confederacy of Gaya, where it is said to have been invented. It is probably the best known traditional Korean musical instrument.
