Not to far in the future, visitors to Busan will be able to access information on any hotel, attraction or restaurant on a real-time basis from anywhere in the city. Busan plans to open its “Ubiquitous-Tourism ear” in October this year. It will provide tourists a handheld terminal that can access all the information they require for a great trip.

Some time ago, Busan second 800 million won ($863,278) for the U-Tourism project, which aims to connect tourists and the city’s major tourist attractions. The project was recently designated a model case for the U-Tourpia project organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. As a result, the city received an additional 550 million won($593,760) from the central government.

The city plans to spend 3 billion won ($3.2 million) from national and city funds and private investments through December to harness ubiquitous technology to construct a U-tourist information system for the area in and around Haeundae, its most famous beach.

The new system will be installed in the city’s major gateways, including Gimhae International Airport, Busan Station, and the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal. When completed, it will provide tourists information on transporation and tour routes through terminals such as ultra-mobile PCs,which include geopositioning and high-speed Internet connections.
