Not to far in the future, visitors to Busan will be able to access information on any hotel, attraction or restaurant on a real-time basis from anywhere in the city. Busan plans to open its “Ubiquitous-Tourism ear” in October this year. It will provide tourists a handheld terminal that can access all the information they require for a great trip.
Some time ago, Busan second 800 million won ($863,278) for the U-Tourism project, which aims to connect tourists and the city’s major tourist attractions. The project was recently designated a model case for the U-Tourpia project organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. As a result, the city received an additional 550 million won($593,760) from the central government.
The city plans to spend 3 billion won ($3.2 million) from national and city funds and private investments through December to harness ubiquitous technology to construct a U-tourist information system for the area in and around Haeundae, its most famous beach.
