Airlines offering additional services to Munich, Singapore and Fukuoka
It’s an extremely good time to be either traveling to or from Busan.
The city is celebrating several new and upcoming international flights that will help connect Busan to the world. On Dec. 1, Lufthansa added two additional weekly flights from Busan to Munich, Germany in Europe, bringing the grand total to five. The flights depart from Gimhae International Airport at 10:50 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
The additional service makes it easier for residents and expats in the southeast region of Korea to reach cities in Europe via Munich. Busan also expects that the flights will help it lure more European tourists and boost international exchange with the region, which will in turn help prop up the regional economy.
Korean Air resumed flights from Busan to Hanoi, Vietnam on December 3, with flights leaving twice a week, every Monday and Thursday.
Starting in January, Asiana Airlines will begin a direct flight test service connecting Busan and Singapore. The air carrier will operate two departures a week - one on Wednesday and one on Sunday - from Jan. 10 to Feb. 3. This is the first time that Busan will have a direct flight over 4,000 kilometers. Asiana will decide whether to offer the service on a more permanent basis after analyzing the results of the test period.
Finally, Air Busan will get a direct flight to Fukuoka, Japan in March and to Osaka, Japan in April.
Currently you can fly to 24 cities in nine countries - including China and Russia - from Busan.
