Naming Contest for Foreigner Support and Exchange Center

Busan Foundation for International Activities will open a new facility for the nearly 50,000 foreign residents of Busan to provide them with general information to enhance their convenience in their daily lives as foreigners living in Busan and to promote cultural exchange between the foreign and Korean citizens of Busan. Therefore, we are conducting a naming contest to select a name for the facility which both foreigners and Koreans will find easy to understand and to pronounce.

 

□ The Outline

   ○ Goal of the facility:  

- Provide general information to foreigners who live in Busan

- Offer cultural and language classes for Korean and non-Korean citizens

- Promote cultural exchange between Koreans and foreigners

- Promote international exchange among Busan’s sister cities 

○ Area: 580

   ○ Facilities: Foreigners Consultation Zone, Information Zone, Conference and Class Zone 

 

□ Eligibility to enter the naming competition: Anyone

 

□ Application

○ Period: December 27, 2010 ~ January 16, 2011 (3 weeks)

 ○ We aim to provide:  

- a friendly and convenient place to provide general information to foreign residents in Busan 

- a place for cultural exchange among Busan’s Korean and non-Korean citizens

- a place to promote the city’s brand as an international city open to the world

- a place to achieve the goals of the Busan Foundation of International Activities and the city ’s future vision.

First Place (1): 600,000 won

Second Place (2): 100,000 won each

Announcement of the contest winners

  ○ Date: Friday, January 28, 2011
○ The contest winners will be posted on the BFIA website at http://www.bfia.or.kr and will also be notified in person.

  The schedule date for the announcement of winners may be changed. 

 

Notice

   - Entries won’t be returned and the copyrights of the winning entries shall belong to the BFIA.

   - An official application form has to be submitted.

   - In the case of identical entries, the first one to be submitted will be given preference.

- No more than one award can be given to any individual.

   - Entries which have won awards at other competitions, which are reported as having been ideas stolen from another person, or which are used for any other purpose, will be invalid and any legal liability will remain with the applicant.

    The winning entry is not automatically determined as the name of the center.
