Busan Museum has completed the remodeling of Exhibition Hall 1 and opened it to the public on January 21, 2014. Work that is currently underway at the museum with will be featured in the newly renovated hall

These works include about 900 artifacts that will be displayed from the Paleolithic Era to the Goryeo Dynasty that were excavated in Busan, 80 percent of which are being made available to the public for the first time.

Most of the artifacts, except for those from the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Age were excavated around the Dongnae area. The name Dongnae has been used since King Gyeongdeok of Silla (757) and it has been the center of Busan from the time of the Joseon Dynasty.  Therefore, the museum decided to rename Exhibition Hall 1 as “Dongnae Hall.”

The City of Busan also plans to remodel Busan Hall (previously named Exhibition Hall 2) as well.

When remodeling is completed, visitors will be able to explore Busan’s history and culture from the Joseon Period to the modern and contemporary era via the Korean Empire. The name “Busan” was first used during the Joseon Period and with its historical significance the decision was made to rename Exhibition Hall 2 as “Busan Hall.”
