Beaches in Busan are being spruced up for the busy summer season.
The largest fountain of its kind anywhere in the world will be completed at Dadaepo Beach, which offers some of the nation’s most beautiful sunsets. The fountain, located near the beach’s entrance, is 60 meters in diameter and shoots water up to 55 meters high into the air. Featuring an astonishing 1,046 nozzles and 511 lights, it will be able to spray water in time with music and dozens of smaller fountains. Named the “Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream”, it seeks to represent Dadaepo’s forward-looking aspirations. The fountain will operate 3 times a day during daytime hours (5 times on weekends) and twice at night.

Haeundae Beach has installed a “Vitamin Shower” in the shower booth for the summer season. Swimmers can take a shower with vitamin-concentrated water, which is good for protecting skin which has been exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The lifeguard stands in Haeundae and Songjeong Beach have also been redesigned. The new lifeguard stands are shaped like the letter ‘S’, representing the sun and sea that symbolize Haeundae.
In accordance with the beautiful night illuminations of the Busan New Media Outdoor Art Museum and Gwangan Bridge, four more small cultural performance stages have been built along Gwangalli Beach’s promenade. A variety of beachfront cultural events, including a jazz, saxophone and guitar concert and a traditional Korean dance performance, will be held there this summer. Gwangalli Beach will open on June 26, a few days earlier than usual.

An artificial cascade and promenade have been installed at Songdo Beach. The artificial cascade, which was completed in the spring, is 17 meters high and 30 meters wide, and will be lit up beautifully at night.
