Busan City has introduced a “Greenways Map” in its efforts to develop a ‘walkable city’, connecting the coastal, riverside and forested areas of the city with footpaths.

A total of 574.74 of greenways are planned for Busan by 2012. Since 2008, when the Busan Greenway Project was started, 460.7 of greenways including 168.7 of forest trail, 229.2 of riverside path, and 62.8 of coastal path have been completed. The city will now strive to complete the network by opening a further 114.04of footpaths (including 55.8of forest trail, 19of riverside path, and 39.2of coastal path) connecting the coastal, riverside and forested areas of Busan.

The following coastal paths will be built along the coastline, providing for beautiful sea views. In addition, a sea bus service will be provided when the distance between the paths are too far to reach on foot.

Gijang ~ Songjeong ~ Cheongsapo ~ Dongbaekseom (Island) ~ Millak Waterfront Park~ Gwangalli ~ Namcheon Port ~ Igidae, Baekunpo
Pier No. 5 ~ Sumireu Park ~ Jagalchi Market
Yeongdo Bridge ~ Jungri Port ~ Korea Maritime University ~ Yeongdo-gu District Office
Inclined wharf ~ Songdo ~ Fisheries Products Wholesale Market
Hanjin Shipping ~ Dadaepo ~ Molundae ~ Eulsukdo Bridge
Myeongji Pump Station ~ Shinho Bridge ~ Shinho Sewage Treatment Plant
Gadeokdo ~ Jang Port ~ Dumun Port ~ Cheonseong Port ~ Dadaehang Port ~ Oeyangpo ~ Saebaji ~ Cheongagyo (Bridge)

The forest trails will be connected by region - Gijang, Haeundae, Mt. Geumjeong, Mt. Sanghak, Mt. Baekyang, Mt. Eumgwang, Mt. Sujeong, Mt. Seunghak, Mt. Hwangryeong, and Mt. Geumryeon.

One task will be to connect the paths that run beside the Oncheoncheon Stream, Suyeong River, Chuncheon Stream, and Daecheoncheon Stream, and the paths that run along the banks of the West Nakdong River, Maekdo River, and Pyeonggangcheon Stream. This ‘riverside path’ will connect forest trails and coastal roads. Busan Greenways are expected to become a very valued tourism resource, reflecting the history and culture of surrounding areas.
