Help has arrived for foreigners and people with disabilities facing legal issues. "The Disabled and Foreigners First Service Center" is now open in the main lobby of Busan District Court. The district court runs the priority service center for both groups, as well as an information center for the general public.

The priority service center is the first one of its kind outside of the capital area. It's aimed at assisting people who would have otherwise struggled with difficulties related to dense terminology and complicated judicial procedures. The center is staffed by two municipal workers who provide information on civil affairs and proceedings, as well as judicial assistance.

A civilian affairs consultant is there to help people with disabilities and foreigners solve problems practically through one-on-one consultations. Foreigners who cannot speak Korean well are eligible to access a translation service. For the hearing-impaired, the center will provide a sign language interpreter.

"We opened the center so that everyone, including the disadvantaged members of society, can visit and use the court with ease and convenience," said an associate from Busan District Court. "We will try to find various ways to provide judicial service without discrimination."

- How to get there: Get off at Geoje Station (Metro line No. 3) and go out Exit 6. Walk about five to 10 minutes.

- Information: busan.scourt.go.kr (only in Korean)
