Swedish
Film Festival Busan - Busan Cinema Center
Friday,
November 7 – Thursday, November 13
One
of the must-see cultural events in late autumn, the Swedish Film Festival is
ready to welcome audiences in Seoul and Busan with a strengthened 2014 program.
For this third edition of the festival, the program selection is particularly
focusing on the ‘cinema’ itself in different genres.
From
artistic masterpieces to eccentric experiments, Swedish cinema has always
played a special role in the history of world cinema. This year, Swedish
director Roy Andersson's hilarious and heartbreaking absurdist comedy A Pigeon
Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence won the prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice
Film Festival and further proved the excellence of Swedish cinema.
The
Swedish Film Festival, which is being shown in Seoul and Busan, is the ideal
opportunity to see the very best selection of the latest trends of this
fascinating cinema. Starting from the opening film Nobody Owns Me, this year’s
line-up including social drama (Avalon, Behind Blue Skies, Call Girl),
biography (The Last Sentence), family adventure (The Ice Dragon), documentary
(TPB AFK, Big Boys Gone Bananas!*), sensational short film (Music For One
Apartment and Six Drummers) and its feature version (Sound of Noise) are all
not to be missed.
Behind
the image of a renown welfare country and utopian society, Swedish cinema
strives constantly to explore deep inside of people and society. Swedish Film
Festival 2014 will be held for one week in each city, from November 5 in Seoul
and November 7 in Busan. Some screenings will be followed by special events
such as Guest Appearances, including Kjell-Åke Andersson, the director of the
opening film Nobody Owns Me. All screenings are free to the public.
