Busan will transform into a filmmaker' paradise

Busan has taken a big step forward to become a city for film-making, from shooting to editing, when it opened a comprehensive movie studio. The studio' one-stop service that covers the entire process of filmmaking from location shooting, studio shooting to post-production work, will pave the way for Busan to become an international center for the film and media industry.

 

From this year, Busan has speeded up its effort to implement a mega-project by coming up with agendas and issuesto make Busan a mecca for film and media. Busan is stepping up its effort to build Dureraum, the film center in Busan for Pusan International Film Festival or PIFF expand the area allotted to location shooting to the South Gyeongsang area, establish film and media publicity agencies and create a comprehensive movie studio.

 

Busan opened a comprehensive movie studio in Centum City in Haeundae on Feb 24th. About 32.2 billion won ($21.3 million) has been invested in this project. Now, the facility has technical equipment for digital intermediate, computer graphics and image restoration with the best technicians in the fields of special effects, as well as studio management and 100 other employees. In line with the opening of the studio, Busan signed an MOU on the Feb 25th with Gimhae city, Jinhae city, and Hapcheon-gun of Gyeongsangnam-do to form a film-making cluster in the metropolitan area of Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. The goal is to attract more than 50 percent of the nation' movie productions to Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do by introducing an incentive system for shooting in the area.
