Since 2003, this annual tour has provided a good opportunity for participating students, who are expected to become influential leaders when they return to their home countries after finishing their studies in Busan, to have a first-hand experience on Busan’s culture, history and municipal administration, thereby making them pro-Busan and enhancing the status of Busan as a truly international city.
Officials in the city government analyzed that the increase in the number of participants each year can be attributed to: (1) an increase in the foreign students’ population, and (2) positive feedback from students who previously took part in the tour and relevant universities.
The tour schedule this year is November 10 (Sat), 11 (Sun), 18 (Sun) and 24 (Sat) and this weekend tours should not interrupt participating students’ academic schedule.
The tour itinerary is as follows: Busan City Hall - Beomeo Temple of Korean Buddhist Jogye Order (which possesses many cultural assets such as three-storied stone tower National Treasure No.250) – Busan Marine Natural History Museum (Korea’s first and largest) - Nurimaru APEC House - Gwangan Grand Bridge (an international tourist attraction) - Busan Museum - Mt. Yongdu Park - Busan City Hall. The program is designed to give participants a chance to experience various aspects of Busan's history and culture.
