Busan to host the 56th Annual Meeting of the IDB in 2015

Busan City will host the 56th Annual Meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in 2015. Official events including the annual meeting of the boards of governors and seminars will be held along with culture and tour programs during the annual meeting of the IDB in 2015. About 3,000 guests, including finance ministers and representatives of 48 member countries, and delegates of finance-related institutes and businesses are expected to attend the meeting. 

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is the largest source of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1959, the IDB supports Latin American and Caribbean economic development, social development and regional integration by lending to governments and government agencies, including State corporations.
In March 2005, Korea joined the IDB, the second Asian member along with Japan. The organization currently has 48 member nations.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance succeeded last year in winning the right to host the 56th Annual Meeting of the IDB in Korea, and officially selected Busan from among four cities - Busan, Seoul, Incheon and Jeju - as the host venue for the Meeting.
