The road tunnels are managed by Busan Metropolitan City Facilities Management Authority, Busan Metropolitan City Construction Safety Test Office and the private sector.
As a result of the check, drivers listening to the broadcasts in 7 tunnels including Muhyeon, Daeyeon, Yeonsan, Gudeok, Mandeok No. 2, Hwangnyeong and Baekyang, found them to be clear but in the other 11 tunnels, including Daeti, 1st Mandeok, Jangsan Tunnels No. 1 and 2, Songjeong, Gaejwa, Gwangan, Suyeong, Oryun, and Sujeong, the broadcast was not clear with noise on some radio channels.
The city completed emergency maintenance for 11 tunnels, which had poor radio coverage with noise. The worn-out radio broadcasting equipments in Jangsan 1 and 2, Daeti tunnels will be replaced next year by allocating 0.36 billion won budget. Busan e-FM, English radio broadcasting channel (90.5Mhz) will be installed in 5 tunnels including Jangsan Tunnels No. 1 and 2, Songjeong, Mandeok No. 1, Daeti and Sujeong next year as well.
In addition, FM radio channels, which have good quality sound will be recommended for drivers to listen to in the road tunnels instead of 3 AM radio channels (KBS, MBC, CBS) with poor radio reception.
The City will make its best efforts to provide good radio coverage in road tunnels by ensuring regular inspection and maintenance of the tunnel equipment.
