Busan Foundation for International Activities (BFIA) threw itself into making Busan a global city with private international exchange groups.
BFIA, which opened in February last year to activate international exchange and support foreigners living in Busan, stated that in order to discover worthwhile projects through the support of the existing international exchange activities by the private sector, activate each group and expand opportunities for participation, it plans to support the global city projects of 9 private organizations.
BFIA invited for global city projects of private international exchange groups in last December and received 23 applications from 19 groups. After the deliberation of selection committee, 9 projects were selected and a total of 44 million won will be given.
The selected projects include 'Korea-Japan Children Symposium' of Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Association, 'Korea-Vietnam College Cultural Exchange Forum' of Vesamo and 'International Summer Camp' of AIESEC PNU.
The selection criteria were the support of foreigners living in Busan and the activation of international exchange, which are the purpose of BFIA, and they put weight on, among international exchange projects that can be carried out jointly with or in cooperation with BFIA, those with an original idea and that can grow continuously, that improve the living conditions of foreigners and help foreign students and communities, and that will be held in Busan and raise the global mind among Busan residents, and excluded cultural and art projects.
A BFIA official said, "with this support project, we expect the globalization of Busan will move up by activating international exchanges in the private sector and hope this become the foundation for the globalization of Busan by building an organized partnership with private groups."
