The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts in Seoul is the governing body established to preserve and promote traditional Korean performing arts.
Now Korea's second largest city also has such a performance venue, as the National Center for Korean Busan Performing Arts opened on Oct. 28 after seven years of planning.
The opening ceremony was attended by about seven hundred social dignitaries including Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yu In-chon and Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik.
The center in Busan is a four-story building with performance halls, classrooms and training spaces.
It will hold traditional music and dance performances for residents in the region while focusing on researching and promoting the traditional performing arts of the region.
To celebrate the opening, there will be a special performance every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. from Nov. 4 through 26.
Besides the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts in Seoul and the newly established Busan center, Korea has two more such centers, namely the National Center for Korean Folk Performing Arts and the National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts.
