The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will offer 26 Saudi Arabian educational administrators and university faculty with e-learning training at the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education in Busan from August 4 to 19, 2008.

The arrangement follows Saudi Arabia's request this June for the Korean government's provision of an e-learning training program, which would help key Saudi Arabian human to enhance their e-learning capacity and build infrastructure for the country's educational development.

The two-week training program will consist of lectures on Korea's e-learning policy experiences, studies on recent e-learning technological development, and visits to major educational ICT institutes and universities, and problem-solving research programs that will help participants explore ways to apply e-learning devices in Saudi Arabian settings. Expenses for the program, amounting to 400 million Korean won, are to be covered by the Saudi Arabian government.

Earlier in July, the Ministry had also signed a contract with Uzbekistan for educational ICT consulting(accounting for 600 million won), as a part of the Korean government's education loan project(30 billion won) for Uzbekistan.

The consulting program will include the construction of computer rooms at 1,158 schools, establishment and operation of a Multimedia Contents Development Center, construction of an e-Portal, expert training and other consultative services in the field of educational ICT.

The Korea Educational Research and Information Service, under the ministry, will dispatch four consultants to Uzbekistan in August, who will carry out the program for the next 23 months up to June 2010.
