Indian Cultural Center in Busan Now Open

To celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and India, the Indian Cultural Center opened in Dugu-dong, Geumjeong-gu on December 6, 2013.The Indian Cultural Center is the fourth foreign cultural center opened in Busan after the centers of France, Germany and the Philippines. The center is housed in a three-story building with a total floor area of roughly 400 square meters and has onsite parking as well as facilities for learning, a gallery, and an Indian rooftop ‘healing’ garden.
The Indian Cultural Center plans to show various genres of Indian movies to introduce visitors to traditional Indian culture and spirit through the unique styles of song and dance visible in Indian film.
The center will play a variety of roles in facilitating exchanges between Busan and Inida through events such as the Indian food festival, the Indian film festival, Indian culture programs including Yoga, meditation, learning Hindi, etc., operating a Korea - India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as educational exchanges with universities in India.Busan has been a sister city with the City of Mumbai in India since 2009. Mumbai is the economic capital of India and is home to a vibrant film industry. Busan, which is a hub of film and visual culture in its own right, expects the opening of the Indian Cultural Center will further promote cultural and art exchanges between Busan and India.
