Busan Museum announced that it has made an agreement with
Beomeosa Seongbo Museum to jointly host a special exhibition entitled ‘Beomeosa Temple, The Millennium Temple’
on March 31, 2015.
Beomeosa Temple, built in the Unified Silla Period, is
one of Korea's five great Buddhist temples with an abundance of cultural and
historical assets. These resources are an important part of Buddhist heritage and
hold great significance to all Busan Citizens.
The agreement between Busan Museum and Beomeosa Seongbo
Museum was made in order to promote Beomeosa Temple’s history and cultural
heritage to Busan citizens. The special exhibition will be held from July 21 –
September 13, 2015, for 55 days at Busan Museum.
A
total of 108 important cultural assets, including Samguk yusa (Memorabilia of
the Three Kingdoms), Volumes 4 and 5 (Treasure
419-3), Buljo samgyeong (The Three Sutras) (Treasure 1224-2), Annotated Brahmajala Sutra (The
Sutra of Brahma’s Net) (Treasure 894-2), Four Guardian Kings painting (Busan
Tangible Cultural Property No.51) housed in Beomeosa Seongbo Museum, and Brazen Steamer with "梵魚寺(Beomeosa
Temple)" Inscription (Busan Tangible Cultural
Property No.46) housed in Busan Museum, will be featured at the exhibition.
