Busan city plans “Busan Grand Sale 2005” to publicize 2005 APEC summit conference to all over the world in Busan in November. “Busan Grand Sale 2005” is a public relations strategy to inform tourists’ attractions of Busan to tourists all over the world and 2005 APEC summit meetings with a theme of Shopping with Twice Pleasure, Half Expense.
For this reason Busan city plans to a lot of events such as giving discount and souvenirs in restaurants and 460 lodgings in Haeundae and other four special districts to tourists from Japan, China, and Southeast Asian countries for two months from May 1st to June 30th. The lodgings that take part in the events give tourists as much as 30% discount on room charge and 10 to 50 % discount on using facilities like sauna, restaurants and provide free drinks as wine and beer.
In addition, welcoming placard in three languages as Chinese, Japanese, English will be equipped in nine places such as Gimhae airport and International Ferry Terminal, Busan station, tourists attractions starting April 18th by the city government to greet foreign tourists. They are going to distribute guidebooks, souvenirs to foreign tourists as a part of “Busan Grand Sale 2005” at Ginhae airport and other places at 10 a.m. in May 2nd. Especially various folk performances will be held every weekend for foreign tourists such as traditional folk game festivals, Busan folk games, Korean traditional tea ceremony and so forth.
A Busan city spokesman said that it was the year of visiting Busan and 2005 APEC would be held so that they made efforts to give great impression to foreign tourists and to be a successful event. On the other hand, city government produces 15,000 guidebooks containing companies, discount, tourist attractions, and 20,000 pamphlets, posters and stickers and distribute to tourist information centers, airports, international ferry terminals, travel agencies, lodgings and cyber publicizing using Internet.
