Busan will have a research institute designed to develop next-generation technologies for a ubiquitous computing environment.
The Busan Metropolitan Government said on April 10 that INI Graphics Net, an acclaimed German computer graphics company, and Dongseo University in Busan will jointly launch the Institute of Ambient Intelligence (IAI) at the New Millennium Hall of Dongseo University on the afternoon of April 11.
The IAI aims to develop next-generation technologies based on computer graphics technologies, thereby creating a ubiquitous and harmonious computing environment.
For its first project, the IAI is planning to develop a comprehensive ocean monitoring system based on computer graphics and ubiquitous sensor technologies. In addition, the institute will create a three-dimensional visualizing system in which producers run simulations of various activities ranging from production of movies and animated films, development of game content to post-management, and this is expected to reduce production cost and shorten the processing period.
The IAI will receive a research base for the ubiquitous technology environment from Dongseo University and administrative assistance from the Busan Metropolitan Government as well as tapping excellent human resources and technologies in virtual reality and computer graphics from INI Graphics Net.
The city government said that it expects the IAI to create new profit models and advance relevant industries in the region by hosting large project from home and abroad over the next two years and secure key technologies to facilitate the growth of strategic industries in Busan.
