More than 150 domestic and foreign automakers will showcase their latest models in Korea’s largest auto show to be held in the southern port city of Busan early next month, organizers said Monday (Apr. 14).
The 2008 Busan International Motor Show will be "the gateway to introduce to and share the excellence of the automobile industry with the world," said Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik on the organizing committee’s Web site.
The show, which runs from May 2 to 12 under the catchphrase "Automobile, it’s a culture beyond life," traditionally serves as a showcase for Korean automakers such as Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. before world debut of their newest models.
Media preview events are slated for May 2 and the auto show will open to the public on May 3.
Organizers expect more than one million people to visit the biennial show, similar to the number for the previous event, in Busan, some 450 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
Among the high-profile exhibitors at the show, Hyundai Motor, the world’s sixth-largest carmaker with its affiliate Kia Motors, is expected to attract visitors’ attention when it displays new eco-friendly cars powered by electricity from fuel cells, according to the organizing committee.
