On April 5th, Busan City launched its Pink
Light Campaign for the safety and convenience of pregnant women who use public
transportation.
The City has installed a pink light next to
seats reserved for pregnant women in all trains of Busan-Gimhae Light Rail
Transit. Using cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the light
blinks when a pregnant woman carrying a beacon device approaches so that anyone
inappropriately sitting there will yield the seat to her.
The City provides beacon devices to pregnant
women who register by phone (051-888-1415) or through the official website
(www.pinklight.kr, Korean only). Beacons can be obtained from offices in
Sasang, Gimhae International Airport, Daejeo, Buwon and Royal Tomb of King Suro
Stations of the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit line and the Communications
Planning Division in Busan City Hall. A medical certificate from the maternity
hospital must be presented.
The campaign is a collaboration between Busan City and Daehong Communications Inc., a company providing marketing communication services.
