□ Being run jointly with the Busan International Architecture Festival Organizing Committee, Busan Metropolitan City is now operating the Ttubeok Ttubeok Busan Architecture Tour every weekend until December 2026.
○ This citizen-engaged experience promotes architectural excellence in Busan. Participants walk through the city while learning about the history and significance of its buildings.
○ Those interested in urban planning and design are welcome to join.
□ The tour is composed of five routes traversing Busan’s urban and architectural assets: ▲ Centum City Architecture (Haeundae-gu), ▲ UN & Cultural Architecture (Nam-gu), ▲ Old Downtown Architecture (Jung-gu), ▲ Dongnae Traditional Architecture (Dongnae-gu), and ▲ Sanbok Road Architecture (Dong-gu), first introduced in May 2025.
○ [Centum City Architecture] Busan Museum of Art Annex (Space Lee Ufan), BEXCO, Shinsegae Department Store, and Busan Cinema Center—all located near the Centum City neighborhood
○ [UN & Cultural Architecture] Busan Museum, Busan Cultural Center, National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation, United Nations Peace Memorial Hall, and United Nations Memorial Cemetery— patriotic monuments
○ [Old Downtown Architecture] Baeksan Memorial Hall, Busan Meteorological Observatory, Busan Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Korea, and Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum Annex in Jung-gu— structures reflecting Busan’s identity
○ [Dongnae Traditional Architecture] Janggwancheong, Dongheon, and Dongnaehyanggyo Confucian School—representative examples of Joseon-era administrative sites
○ [Sanbok Road Architecture] Busan Eurasia Platform, former Baekje Hospital, guesthouses ‘Five Trees’ and ‘Cat Nap,’ 168 The Deck accessed using a hillside elevator, Ebagu Crafts Workshop, and Sanbok Road Exhibition Hall in Mangyang-ro—this route, close to Busan Station, is popular with domestic and overseas travelers eager to appreciate Busan’s character as a global port city.
□ Tours begin at 14:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 on Sundays, each lasting roughly two and a half hours. Busan cultural architecture docents impart in-depth explanations and behind-the-scenes insights.
□ Registrations can be made on biacf.or.kr for 5,000 won. A small souvenir will be offered to participants.
○ Weekday group tours for seven or more are also conducted throughout the year and can be arranged by phone (051-744-7762).
○ Tours are not held on Mondays, public holidays, and during the Busan International Architecture Festival (October 27 – 31).
□ In light of Busan’s selection as World Design Capital 2028 and the worldwide attention to its municipal design capabilities, the city will deliver internationally-oriented architectural programs to emphasize its distinctive urban landscape. Details will be posted on the Busan International Architecture Festival website. http://www.biacf.or.kr/?d=citizen&f=ttubeog
